The new Buy Now Pay Later Platform in town — PostPay
So, the cricketing scene & hence the associated moods of Desi people is abuzz with only one word — T20 World Cup. People aren’t quite done with T20, yet !
But there is something else too which is cashing in as well as creating in on the buzz. That is, a new App. Lots of them seems to be coming to the fore these days. What does this app do ? Well, it is simple.
You go to a shop, you buy something, you scan it, haven’t you done this millions of times already now. Let’s cut to the chase. This app gives you ‘credit’ & pays that amount for you, yes you heard that right. Credit. So, its kind of a credit card only without the hassles or so you think, after having watched their ads.
Although, they claim that you may obtain credit for higher amounts too, more than just a chai and you know what. But that’s not what we’re talking about here.
What I was interested in, was to find out what it takes to just buy stuff without having to worry about cash reserves and pay it at a later date, whenever feasible. So I set out, and I couldn’t reach the destination. But as they say “the journey is more beautiful than the destination”, so, here you go !
They send you a link to click via WhatsApp and voila, you’re done. No OTPS needed. Yayy !
So this is the tricky stuff, what clicking the allow button essentially does is generate a Credit Score for you (dont worry, it does not lower it) and shares it with the app with your ‘consent’. (see that allow button there ? yes that.)
Next up, you fill in you PAN Details, AADHAR Details and do something unique post that. You click a selfie of yours and upload it. There is no option of uploading a photo or something. Only a selfie clicked in real-time. Also, they access some stuff from your DigiLocker profile.
Now, as you might be hoping I get to login to the main stuff, well I couldnt. Here is a picture showing my utmost failure in doing so. I am in the waiting line, they asked me to refer to move up the line. I did not and have uninstalled the software. So, I shall try for an update to this when I get to access the main screen, with a real merchant in the future (or not :p )
